Black Trimmed Bathroom Mirrors | Getting the Look for Less

If there’s one thing that I’ve obsessed over in our current home, it’s black accents. From frames, to doors, and side tables, I’m just on a kick where I think everything looks good with a little black paint. It’s classic, chic, and so defining. Just think of it as mascara or eye liner. Black accents can be the one thing that pulls the whole room together. I’ve even heard Shea McGee from Studio McGee say that she puts something black in every room.

Most recently, I’ve been stalling every time I see a slim-trimmed black bathroom mirror. It’s probably because I’ve had the thought of replacing our sparkly silver master bath mirror etched in the back of my mind since we moved in. The look of these black mirrors can fit most styles because of their classic shapes and minimalistic appearance.

Getting the Look for Less

If you’re a regular around here, you may know that our bathroom is not next in line for a renovation, and there are only a few cosmetic things I would do anyways since it was recently renovated by the previous owners. We have $0 in our bathroom budget, and all the pennies going toward our kitchen. This certainly didn’t mean I had to neglect this space though. I reached for my trusty Country Chic Paint in Licorice to appease my love for the modern black-trimmed mirrors while I wait for the the bathroom mirror of my dreams!

Materials

Country Chic Paint Licorice

Country Chic Paint Natural Wax

Paint Brush

CCP Wax Brush

Magazine Pages / Painters Tape

For this quick project, I simply cleaned the frame, laid some magazine pages on the mirror to protect it from paint and wax, brushed on a couple coats of paint, and finished it off with wax.

The Take Away

If you see a style that you like on your Instagram or Pinterest boards, don’t get discouraged when you look at the price tags. Think about what you already have and how you can repurpose it. Sometimes a little coat of paint can go a long ways!
