Neutral Valentines Living Room + DIY Rustic Hearts

Today, I’m teaming up with 6 super talented Home Decor Bloggers for a Valentines House Tour. I’ve put some simple, neutral, DIY touches to my living room, but first up is the Valentine’s Entryway with Amanda at The Ginger Home. Go check her beautifully sweet decor, and come back to complete the home tour!

When it comes to changing up my decor, I typically just keep it seasonal with Christmas being the exception. This year, I wanted to add some neutral, rustic touches with my favorite color: blush pink. I already have several blush pink, rustic, and gold items laying around since 1) it’s one of my favorite colors , and 2) I have a baby girl, so pink is hard to avoid.

My Rustic Blush Valentines Living Room

One of my biggest principles when it comes to home decor is PRACTICALITY. If it’s too season or too “themey”, I don’t buy it. I like for pieces to serve multiple uses and be able to be used throughout the year in some form or fashion.

One item that is easy and inexpensive to switch up though is floral. Hobby Lobby is constantly running good sales on their floral stems, which I personally think they have the be selection around. For Valentine’s Day, I had to include some gorgeous white roses with touches of blush pink and some warm blush tall stems for my side table vase to pull the room together.

I’m constantly shopping my home when I get bored with a room or seasonally decorating. It’s amazing how many items appear completely different in another setting. For example, I replaced a knitted wall hanging above my sewing table with a couple pink floral prints that have been sitting in a closet since we moved in. I also added in a few gold touches and some candles because candles just scream romance, amiright?!

DIY Rustic Hearts Tutorial

This was one of the easiest (2 supplies!), quickest (2 steps!), least expensive decor DIYs I’ve even done. All I used was this (1) grapevine wire from Hobby Lobby and (2) some left over yarn from this yarn (via Michaels) wall hanging project.

All I did was (1) form the wire into a heart shape and twist the wire in the top center of the heart. You will need wire cutters to cut the wire to your desired size. You can play with the shape, form, and size to get it just right. (2) Once you like the shape, tie a piece of yarn to one of the top humps and start wrapping it around your heart. Tie it off on the wire once you’re finished.

To hang my hearts, I used clear tacks where I twisted the wire and pinned them to the wall. It’s as simple as that! This doesn’t have to be hearts. Just think of all the shapes and objects you can form this wire into to create inexpensive art!
