Modern Casual Outdoor Oasis

Outdoor Oasis

* For this post, I’ve partnered with Wayfair.

Who’s up for creating an outdoor oasis these days?

If you’re anything like me, I’m sure you’ve already started cleaning your decks and porches so that you can enjoy the beautiful spring weather. Also, if you’re anything like me, you’ve been daydreaming of replacing that old worn out patio furniture that has been handed down over and over or the plastic stuff that you bought at Big Lots on clearance in your early 20s.

If you’re home with kids all day parenting, teaching, working…doing all the things, I’m sure scrolling endlessly piecing together a patio isn’t on the top of the priority list. Luckily, I’ve created a design that is neutral enough to go with any style and will be classic and cozy for years to come.

3 Rules of Thumb When Designing Your Outdoor Oasis

1 | Add a Bold Print or Pop of Color

Setting the foundation with a bold printed rug or pillows is a great way to add color without splurging. It gives you the ability to easily change out the vibe of the space by simply replacing the rug or pillows. Also, a pop of color with these items can tie the entire space together to make it look high end while keeping it functional.

2 | Keep It Conversational

An outdoor space is meant to enjoy with family and friends. Some of the best conversations can occur while lounging outside on a beautiful day, so keep the layout conversational. Place seating in a way that allows views of the most desirable areas of your space while making it easy to chat over a cup of coffee. Also, don’t forget to add pieces that allow your friends to prop their feet up (i.e. poufs!).

3 | Set the Mood

This can easily be done with lighting and plants. Whether it’s a couple hanging ferns or layered potted plants, adding greenery to your outdoor space instantly brings it to life while cozying things up as well. Also, lighting is essential. Adding string lights easily sets the mood for an outdoor oasis.
